Accurate functioning of fallopian tubes

Accurate functioning of fallopian tubes
Accurate tubal function involves:
1. The fimbria of the Fallopian tube picking up the egg
2. Transportation of the egg through the Fallopian tube by the cells that line the inside of the tube
3. Fertilization of the egg by a healthy sperm which can penetrate the egg’s protective covering
4. Transfer from the fallopian tube into the uterus where the embryo implants
If implantation occurs in the tube, this results in a tubal pregnancy.
For the above processes to occur, the tube must be open. Many patients have undergone a tubal ligation procedure which has closed the tube. Tubal reversal is a challenging surgery that can be done by an experienced surgeon that allows one to regain the previous anatomy and physiology of the healthy tube. After a tubal reversal, fertility prognosis is based on accurate functioning of the tubes. Other infertility factors may also be present which may hinder conception.
What types of tests are available in the work-up of tubal disease?
Most fertility physicians will examine the history of the patient and may suggest any of the following tests according to the degree and nature of the disease history:
1. Hysterosalpingography (HSG) is the most commonly used method
2. Laparoscopic chromopertubation is a more invasive technique standard in the diagnosis of tubal disease
3. Sonohysterography with the use of contrast medium is not as accurate as HSG in diagnosing tubal blockage
4. Chlamydia serology is the most cost-effective and least invasive diagnostic test
Various available treatments according to the degree and nature of tubal disease
Treatment depends on degree and nature of the tubal dysfunction, while the age and ovarian reserve of the patient determine what options are available for the patient.
1. With the existence of a hydrosalpinx, prophylactic surgery can remove the hydrosalpinx
2. For proximal tubal obstruction, a possible first treatment is transcervical tubal cannulation with tubal flushing
3. For tubal repair in tubal obstruction, some surgical techniques include salpingostomy and fimbrioplasty
Many patents now prefer in-vitro fertilization and embryo transfer by bypassing the tubal problems altogether. In certain situations, in combination with in-vitro fertilization and embryo transfer, any above type of treatment may be used in dealing with tubal dysfunction. If the tubal disease is secondary to a history of a tubal ligation, then a tubal reversal may be the best option for restoring fertility. Tubal reversal has a better rate of subsequent pregnancy for those patients with a history of tubal ligation.

Hormonal imbalance in younger women

Female fertility is controlled by reproductive hormones. An imbalance in these may cause an inability to ovulate (release an egg) called anovulation. Anovulation may lead to symptoms of a hormonal imbalance, or possibly a woman may not ovulate due to a hormonal imbalance. This cyclic balance between hormones is needed for fertility in women.
After menopause, imbalance is normal due to the aging process. For some younger women, even in their thirties or younger, symptoms of early onset of these hormonal imbalances and the associated disorders has become more and more of a problem.
What factors may present in young female patients?
Hormonal imbalance may be dependent on some continuing factors in a woman’s life, such as:
Nutrition or lack of it,
Basic diet imbalance,
Environmental reasons, including pollution,
Stress,
Contraceptive and birth control medication,
Exercise or lack of it,
Above average consumption of non-organic foods,
Animal products that have disproportionate amounts of estrogen,
Anovulation.
Anovulation may lead to the significant problem of disturbing hormones. When a woman is not ovulating it means she may be producing too little of one hormone, and/or too much of another. The production of progesterone from the ovaries does not take place during an anovulatory cycle. The direct cyclic result is that the normal value or level of progesterone starts to decline. Also, the estrogen level starts to rise.
Note: The amount of these hormones produced in a woman’s body can fluctuate from one month to the next even in healthy women, but is that there is an incorrect relationship between progesterone and estrogen levels which may lead to infertility.
Some surgical procedures may affect one’s ability to ovulate for a short period of time. For example, after a tubal reversal some women may undergo a temporary phase of hormonal imbalance between progesterone and estrogen levels. This will resolve as the body recovers from the tubal reversal.

Relief to Menstrual Cramps

It is true that menstrual cramps are something that most women dread in their lives. When it is the "time of the month," women experience not only the physical symptoms of the cramps but also other conditions such as bloating, fatigue, swelling, headache, irritability, mood swings, and breast tenderness, all of which are associated with a woman's menstrual period.

These conditions may happen one at a time or all at the same time. Depending on the severity of the cramps and the other symptoms, this can hinder some women from going to school or work. Menstrual cramps happen because every month, the inner lining of the uterus would prepare for a pregnancy.

When there is no fertilized egg, the lining sheds and breaks down prostaglandin, which when released causes the uterine muscles to contract, and to cut off blood supply and oxygen to the endometrial tissue.

Cramping happens because the contractions are what push out the lining out of the body.

Menstrual cramps can be so painful that women are always looking for ways to alleviate the pain and suffering they experience during this time. Medicines that can help relive menstrual cramps include over the counter drugs such as aspirin or medicines that contain acetaminophen (Midol, Pamprin, Tylenol), which are effective for mild cramps.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) that contain ibuprofen such as Motrin and Advil, ketoprofen like Actron, and naproxen sodium such as Aleve and Anaprox can help relieve menstrual cramps by lowering the production of prostaglandin. Some women make use of oral contraceptives that can relieve pain over time.

Some herbal remedies such as Viburnum prunifolium, Scutellaria spp., and Cimicifuga raemosa have been found to have an anti-spasmodic effect that can decrease the pain the comes with menstrual cramps.

In addition to this, many kinds of food can also help relieve menstrual cramps. For example, fresh pineapple juice has bromelaine, which is an enzyme that can relax the muscles. Ginger, meanwhile, can block the painful effect of prostaglandin and help prevent inflammation.

It is also recommended to have a diet that is rich in calcium, B vitamins, and zinc, as these are known for reducing cramps. Limit intake of salt, sugar and caffeine at least a week before your menstrual period as these substances are believed to add to menstrual pains.

Having a full stomach may also help because the body will focus more on digestion instead of on cramping.

This is especially important if you are going to take a painkiller. Taking painkillers with food can help you avoid stomach discomfort.

Aside from medicines and foods, there are many other ways that can help a woman alleviate menstrual pain. A warm bath, for instance, can help the body unwind and relax. It is a known fact that stress can only aggravate the pain.

Lying down in a fetal position can also help and so is a heating pad on the back or on the abdomen. Regular low impact exercise such as walking or swimming can minimize the severity of menstrual cramps for some women.

If none of these tips works and if the cramping is severe or accompanied by vomiting or fever, it may be a sign of a medical emergency. Contact your doctor right away.

How To Get A Tighter Vagina

In recent years natural medicine has gained in immense popularity largely due to the absence of any side effects associated with it. The main reason why people are looking for alternative forms of treatment is the dangerous side effects that western medicine carries. For example if you intake certain allopathic medicines in an empty stomach it can damage your liver but there are no such problems associated with any of the herbs. In this article we are going to discuss about the herbs which help in tightening the vagina and the herbal creams which are becoming very popular amongst women who have a loose vagina due to child birth or aging.

Vagina Tightening Herbs
There are certain herbs which are helpful in tightening the vagina. Herbs like manjakini and aloe are very effective in tightening the vaginal area. The application of these herbs help increase blood flow to the genital area and also helps in release of estrogen which also helps in getting rid of vaginal dryness problem.

How To Take These Herbs
There are many companies which make vagina tightening creams and sprays. Two most popular ones I know of are virgin cream and instant virgin spray. These contain a combination of herbs which are effective in tightening the vagina. The best thing about these formulations is that they are applied just 15 to 20 minutes prior to intercourse and there regular usage helps in permanent tightening plus the herbs present in these products also help get rid of vaginal odor
and dryness. The price range of these creams ranges from $40 to $50 which is quite economical as compared to a vagina tightening surgery which can cost you around $5000.

These herbal formulations are worth trying out as they are 100% natural and there is no danger of any side effects. You will get a tighter vagina which is essential for a good sex session as your partner will love the tightness and you will enjoy better feeling of penetration.

Menopause Weight Gain: Are you Bloated and Sluggish?

At Menopause, our body goes through changes, that can cause a list of symptoms, including menopause weight gain.

But if you are in good shape, have always watched your diet, and had no problems until this "special time", then you may need to tweak your routines.

It only makes sense that if our bodies are going through changes, then our routines will likely have to change as well. Personally, I found all of a sudden certain foods did not digest as well as they did. Foods that I have eaten all my life, are now causing indigestion. I quizzed a few friends and found the same answers with them.

So, before you start reaching for those antacids, go to the doctor, get that long overdue checkup, and make sure all your systems are "go", since there are many health issues that can strike at this age, such as thyroid problems, and gall bladder issues. If you get the all clear, then try listening to your body. It will definitely tell you what it doesn't like.

In my case, I suddenly could not digest beef. I have eaten beef all my life, raised with the Sunday family dinners with Roast Beef and all the trimmings, and suddenly I can't digest it without pain or indigestion. Instead of reaching for antacids that will just mask the problem, I decided to stay away from beef for awhile with some surprising results.

I guess my body had not liked digesting certain foods, especially beef for a about a year, because around that time my blood pressure started to rise, and I was bloated, and sluggish all the time. My doctor wanted me on blood pressure meds, but we decided to go the diet route to begin with. I saw a dietician, who said to me, "if you need to take antacids or digestive aids to digest a certain food (in my case beef) then maybe your body doesn't want it right now".

I came away from it, and concentrated on other proteins, like chicken, fish, eggs and nuts, and that was all I changed. One month later I am down 5 pounds, without really trying, and my blood pressure dropped 15 points down to normal. I was totally shocked, and so was my doctor. I no longer felt sluggish or bloated.

So, if you are having trouble with menopause weight gain, take a closer look at your diet, are some foods not sitting as well as they use to?. Are you just eating them out of habit?.. Do you find high fat snack foods cause indigestion?.. Then listen to your body and make some changes. Don't just mask the problems, they will only get worse and possibly come out as other symptoms, as with me and my blood pressure, menopause weight gain, and sluggishness. You are in charge of your own health, listen to your body.

Herbal Vaginal Tightening Creams Review

Vagina tightening creams have been gaining immense popularity worldwide recently due to their high success rate and lack of any side effects. So what exactly do these herbal tightening creams do and what ingredients and herbs are used in making them, let us discuss all about these creams and find out the reason behind their success rate.

What are The Different Type of Creams Available
There are a lot of companies which are making these creams but the most popular ones I know of are basically virgin cream or vcream, instant virgin spray and instant virgin gel. These creams and sprays are generally recommended for women who have lost firmness in their vagina due to childbirth or aging. Basically these are applied to the vaginal walls 10 to 15 minutes prior to intercourse.

What Is It In Them Which Gives The Tightening Effect?
It is very important to find out what makes these creams work or what herb in them actually helps in tightening the vagina, basically what I have found is that most of these creams have a common ingredient in aloe which is a well known herb for tightening the skin, another popular herb which is used for vagina tightening is manjakani which has been extensively and traditionally used by Arabs for healing external tissue damage.

Surgery Vs Herbal Tightening
Although surgery gives permanent tightening but it ranges from $5000 to $7000 which obviously not every one get afford, while these creams price ranges from $40 to $50 for a months usage without the dangers of any side effects and regular applications of the cream gives permanent and lasting results. So why opt for a surgery when you can reap the benefits at a much lower price.

So if you have been thinking of tightening your vagina and reliving the passionate teenage lovemaking moments it is worth giving these creams a try.

Women loosing interest in sex can be due to of lot of reasons like a bad experience in the previous relationship, mental block, upbringing, many are scared and shy or anything else. Other than this, there can be some medical reasons for loosing interest in sex.

Women having high blood pressure and diabetes which can restrict blood flow in genitals leading to a lost of interest in sex. Hormonal imbalance can also be major reason especially in women who are breast feeding, who consume birth control pills, menopausal woman and women with thyroid problems which dampens the desire to have sex. The irony is that oral contraception used by most of the women drastically brings down enthusiasm to have sex. Similarly, women consuming pills to reduce depression shall experience delay in orgasm and low sex drive. Chemotherapy and antidepressants agents or pills have side effects that can result having a low sex drive. These can be attributed as the main medical reasons for women loosing interest in sex.

There are several other reasons like any damage caused to the nerve during pelvic surgery, depression, sleepless nights, obesity, stress, low levels of testosterones etc... Obesity is another important factor for both men and women to lose interest in sex.

If you desire for sex continues to be low you can consult your doctor or sex therapist, whether there is any physical problem. Consultation is very important as problems in sex life can create problems in relationship and also gives rise psychological problems. Studies have shown that lack of sex can cause multiple problems in your life, both related to mental and physical.

There are many treatments also available to overcome this problem which includes taking medication to increase your estrogen levels in the body and trigger the desire to have sex. Older men can be given shots or patches of testosterone. Some women can also experience improvement in sex life with workouts, relationship counseling or even a sex therapy.

If the change in Sexual life is as a result of side effects of some other medication, doses can be revised or an alternative medication can be prescribed by the doctor. If low sex drive is not because of any other health condition you need to visit a sex therapist immediately. Doctors should also make it a point to educate patients on the possible side effects. As it can be a rude shock to people realizing it later. Some medications have such a effect that even if the consumption is stopped, it shall not make any difference. It might not bring back the lost enthusiasm.

Are Endometriosis And Cancer Linked

Endometriosis
is a standard problem that is found in women. This problem occurs when endometrial cells are developing within the uterus or right outside of it. These cells are what the woman’s bodies need to expel every menstrual cycle. But during this condition they tie themselves to the tissue that is outside of the uterus and develop implants.

Doctors will ordinarily observe the implants on the surface of the ovaries, outside of the uterus, intestines, the lining of the pelvic cavity, or the Fallopian tubes. In rare events they have the ability to be seen on the cervix, vagina, and bladder. It is even more rare for the implants to attach themselves to other more viable organs that include the lungs, liver, and brain.

While the endometrial implants themselves are believed to be benign - which implies that they are non-cancerous - certain researchers still think that there is a connection. They have completed several exams and consider that women who suffer from this condition are at a slight risk of developing certain kinds of cancer that commence in the ovary. This is most usually known as ovarian cancer.

This form of cancer is one that women should worry about - but is most ordinarily found in women who hurt from some kind of sterility or endometriosis. One method that they are hoping helps to reduce this risk of cancer is taking oral birth control pills. Doctors will ordinarily utilize these as a treatment for the condition.

For now doctors have not been able to fully understand the tie that endometriosis and ovarian cancer have. Their biggest theory is that the implants that are produced will discover a way to turn themselves into cancer. One other hypothesis is that the broad condition may be induced by hereditary or environmental elements that will work with the condition to step-up the woman’s chance of developing the cancer.

If you recognize that you are hurting from endometriosis signs then you have to talk with your doctor pertaining to the cancer dangers. It might be a great idea to arrange exams every couple of months to make sure that you do not develop this cancer.

Review Of Natural Breast Enlargement Methods

If you are one of those women who are not satisfied with her breast size then you must go on to read this article. Here in this article we are going to discuss the different options available for enhancing your breasts and which ones are best for both your health and your pocket.

Breast Augmentation Surgery
This option is a modern scientific development. It involves both investment of time and money and it can have a lot of consequences on your overall health and the results are not 100% guaranteed and it is a very expensive surgery so not everyone can afford it. All in all this should be the last resort if nothing else works.

Breast Enhancement Pills
These pills have become quite popular in recent times. These pills are usually made up of herbal ingredients which trigger a reaction in a body similar to the one that happens in puberty when the breasts starts to grow. These herbs release plant estrogens in the body which trigger growth of breast tissue without causing any harmful side effects.

The positive effects of herbal pills take a little longer to be visible mostly around 2 months but the results are often permanent. Basically women who have small or medium cup size usually get the desired results within two to three months of regular usage. Some women even continue taking the pills for longer duration because of the other positive health benefits they derive from the herbal ingredients present in these formulations.

Breast Enlargement Creams
These herbal creams are a good supporting supplement if taken along with breast enlargement pills but do not give the same results if one depends only on them.

Exercises
There are some very effective exercises like push ups which makes the breast firmer and make muscles behind the breasts stronger thereby helping in increasing breast size.

So all in all if a woman wants to enhance her breast size she has to follow a combination of the three steps - taking pills, applying cream and exercising regularly. This combination will give her positive and long lasting results.

Douche Warning for Women

Women with bacterial vaginosis or any vaginal infections should not douche, unless under a doctor's supervision. Even then it should be questioned.

Douching can cause harm because it disrupts the balance of the vagina's natural organisms. It can lead to infection and may also cause an infection to spread to the reproductive tract.

Various international studies show douching is not healthy. Regular douching changes the chemical balance of the vagina and can introduce new bacteria into the vagina that can spread to the cervix, uterus and fallopian tubes.

Researchers have found women who douche regularly experience more vaginal irritations and infections such as bacterial vaginosis.

Regular users of vaginal douches also have a 73 per cent greater risk of getting pelvic inflammatory disease, a condition that can lead to infertility and death.

Douching is no longer recommended as a safe way to clean the vagina. Let the vagina clean itself naturally with its own mucous secretions. When bathing use warm water and gentle unscented soap to clean the outer area. Don't use feminine hygiene products like soaps, powders and sprays.

So what is the vaginal douche? Well, it's a process of flushing the vagina by forcing water or solution into the vagina to clean it.

Women sometimes don't feel they are clean unless they use them regularly and the system has been used for years.

Some women douche after sex to avoid pregnancy or disease but douching is actually not a preventative measure anyway.

To reduce vaginal odours, as with bacterial vaginosis, using a douche can actually intensify the problem.

The bottom line is do not douche.

Will really help you wiping off unwanted hairs

Some women do also have hairs on face and unnecessary hair growth on the face is mainly bothersome to women. This may be the result of some hormonal disorder. Tumors arising in the ovaries, adrenal glands and other endocrine organs have sometimes added to this problem. But in most cases there is not exact reason for excessive growth of hair.

The more familiar hair removal methods include low-priced options such as shaving and depilatory creams. Shaving of course, is an efficient facial hair remover in that it dapper the hair off at skin level, leaving a smoother surface for about twenty-four hours. It's fast, easy and tremendously inexpensive. The problem with shaving is that it doesn't last long at all and the hair often grows back thicker than before.

Another method is by using electrolysis, but this is a dreary process. Little electrical shocks are instilled into each hair follicle through a needle, killing the hair root and putting off reappearance. You may need several treatments before you can see any real results. Laser is normally a permanent method of hair removal but the hair that responds best to laser treatment is dark, thick hair on lighter skin. It can be expensive and protracted. The method of tweezing is good, though somewhat aching way to remove small areas of unwanted facial hair. Because the hair is plucked out at the root, it takes longer to reappear.

Using creams, gels and lotions, which contain a chemical that modify the construction of the hair for easy removal. This chemical can be irksome to skin, so use only a product especially formulated for the face. Waxing can be used to achieve the purpose but it is not recommended for sunburned or irritated skin.

And a few home-made remedies will really help you wiping off unwanted hairs. Prepare a mixture by adding turmeric and some curd and apply to the face. It is an effective remedy for the removal of facial hair. Add a little turmeric to the gram flour and water. The hair will come out. Lemon is natural bleach, so apply that with an equal amount of honey and leave on for ten to fifteen minutes. Do this everyday. When bathing, apply soap and scrub. This will take some time, but with patience your hair will gradually reduce and diminish. Mix lemon, sugar, and honey in a bowl. Heat it on high for about 2-3 minutes, until it bubbles into a smooth uniformity. Stretch a thin layer. Cover with a strip of fabric, and rasping the strip the reverse way of hair growth, about 3 times. Grab the fabric end and pull it off very quickly against the direction of the hair growth. This is an effective home remedy for hair removal.

Vaginal Infections

Vaginal Infections

"Vaginitis" is a medical term used to describe various conditions that cause infection or inflammation of the vagina. Vulvovaginitis refers to inflammation of both the vagina and vulva (the external female genitals). These conditions can result from a vaginal infection caused by organisms such as bacteria, yeast or viruses, as well as by irritations from chemicals in creams, sprays, or even clothing that is in contact with this area. In some cases, vaginitis results from organisms that are passed between sexual partners.
What Are the Symptoms of a Vaginal Infection?

The symptoms of vaginitis can vary depending on what is causing the infection. Some women have no symptoms at all. Some of the more common symptoms of vaginitis include:

* Abnormal vaginal discharge with an unpleasant odor.
* Burning during urination.
* Itching around the outside of the vagina.
* Discomfort during intercourse.

Is Vaginal Discharge Normal?

A woman's vagina normally produces a discharge that usually is described as clear or slightly cloudy, non-irritating, and odor-free. During the normal menstrual cycle, the amount and consistency of discharge can vary. At one time of the month there may be a small amount of a very thin or watery discharge; and at another time, a more extensive thicker discharge may appear. All of these descriptions could be considered normal.

A vaginal discharge that has an odor or that is irritating usually is considered an abnormal discharge. The irritation might be itching or burning, or both. The itching may be present at any time of the day, but it often is most bothersome at night. These symptoms often are made worse by sexual intercourse. It is important to see your doctor if there has been a change in the amount, color, or smell of the discharge.
What Are the Most Common Types of Vaginal Infections?

The 6 most common types of vaginal infections are:

* Candida or "yeast" infections
* Bacterial vaginosis
* Trichomoniasis vaginitis
* Chlamydia vaginitis
* Viral vaginitis
* Non-infectious vaginitis

Although each of these vaginal infections can have different symptoms, it is not always easy for a woman to figure out which type of vaginal infection she has. In fact, diagnosis can even be tricky for an experienced doctor. Part of the problem is that sometimes more than one type of infection can be present at the same time. And, an infection may even be present without any symptoms at all.

To help you better understand these 6 major causes of vaginitis, let's look briefly at each one of them and how they are treated.
What Is Candida or a Vaginal "Yeast" Infection?

Yeast infections of the vagina are what most women think of when they hear the term "vaginitis." Vaginal yeast infections are caused by one of the many species of fungus called Candida. Candida normally live in small numbers in the vagina, as well as in the mouth and digestive tract, of both men and women.

Yeast infections can produce a thick, white vaginal discharge with the consistency of cottage cheese although vaginal discharge may not always be present. Yeast infections usually cause the vagina and the vulva to be very itchy and red.

Heart Attacks In Women - Signs and Symptoms

A study of 515 women who had an acute heart attack (MI, Myocardial Infarction), reported symptoms that were not your typical heart symptoms. The most commonly reported symptoms were unusual fatigue, sleep disturbances, shortness of breath, indigestion, and anxiety.

Only 30% of the women who reported chest pain had reports of aching and tightness. Women who experience symptoms of heart disease tend to ignore or deny that any discomfort exists. Women are less likely to seek help early when symptoms of heart disease begin to manifest themselves. They figure if they are feeling tired, its because the week must have been particular busy, let alone the fact that she may be having problems sleeping. The most remote thing from her mind is that she could be on the road to an impending heart attack, thus is less prone to get needed medical attention.

Statistics have shown that women have a higher risk for heart attack than men, due in part to changes in estrogen levels that take as she ages. Women who take birth control pills and smoke are also at a higher risk. In addition to this, as a woman ages, her risks for heart attack increase, and is more likely to succumb to heart disease. Even if she suffers a heart attack while hospitalized, her chances of survival are less than that of a man. Also, women tend to experience a cardiac event 10 years later than men do. It is paramount for women to get educated and know their risks to prevent becoming a statistic.

Although a woman of any age can fall victim to a heart attack, having a family history of heart disease should be her first clue of what her risks involve. Women need to realize that heart disease is their number one killer, and it is not just a disease of men. That is why its important for women to take charge of their health to know what her risks for heart disease are, and learn to recognize the signs and symptoms.

There are many options for treatment available, including the immediate opening of a blocked artery, restoring blood flow to the heart. Realizing the early symptoms of heart attack aids in the accuracy of the right diagnosis and the right treatment. Your health is your responsibility, so take care of yourself to ensure you live a healthy quality of life for as long as possible.

Stem Cells May Restore Female Fertility

Rather than sticking to a schedule set by social convention, more and more women are opting to wait until their late 30s and early 40s to have children. In 2005, ten times as many women had their first child between the ages of 35 and 39 as in 1975, and thirteen times as many had their first between 40 and 44. There are apparent advantages of waiting to start a family, including having achieved many personal and career goals and being more financially stable. In contrast, there is also a big downside: the longer you wait, the harder it is to get pregnant. The reason is straightforward—a woman is born with all the eggs, known as oocytes, she’ll ever have and over time the supply is depleted. But researchers in China say it may one day be possible for women to rewind their biological clocks by repopulating their ovaries with new eggs using stem cells.

In a study that has been deemed “quite dramatic,” researchers led by Kang Zou and Ji Wu from the School of Life Science and Biotechnology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University harvested cells they call female germline stem cells (FGSC) from the ovaries of five-day-old and adult mice. The cells were cultured for more than six months and modified to produce a green fluorescent protein so they could be easily tracked. Then the scientists used the FGSC’s to reseed the ovaries of mice whose eggs had been killed off. The sterilized mice produced new eggs, and after natural mating, 80 percent went on to produce healthy offspring that were themselves fertile. The green protein was present in many of the babies, which suggests they came from eggs grown from the stem cells. “These results suggest that oocytes can be regenerated in sterile recipient females by transplantation of FGSCs,” the study authors wrote.

This is the first time scientists have obtained cells from an adult mammal that appear capable of producing new eggs and healthy offspring. “If you are looking to disprove that females cannot make new eggs, this paper proves it. It’s a really significant paper,” said Jonathan L. Tilly, a professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive biology at Harvard Medical School. “This is the smoking gun.”

If the findings are confirmed, they could offer a host of new options for infertile women. For example, those who wish to delay childbearing or who are facing sterilization as a result of cancer treatment might be able to stockpile their egg stem cells for use later in life. Or if women who are infertile because of their age still harbor the cells, scientists may be able to find a way to stimulate them into producing new eggs, some experts say. “We have lot of patients who cannot get pregnant because they have run out of eggs or their eggs are of poor quality because of their age. The only option they have is adoption, which is not so easy, or egg donation, which means the child would not be their genetic child,” said Roger G. Gosden, director of reproductive medicine at Cornell Weill Medical Center in New York, who was not involved in the research. “The research means egg donation from a fertile woman might not be necessary because she could have her own genetic child engineered from her stem cells.”

The findings could also benefit stem cell research by providing a new source of eggs, which are crucial for producing stem cell lines tailored to individual patients and diseases but are difficult to obtain and controversial.

However, some experts remain cautious, saying the work needs to be replicated more carefully in mice and in other species. “The aging process of the human egg differs fundamentally from that of the mouse egg,” said David L. Keefe, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of South Florida. “Except at Disney World, humans are not large mice.”

“This is another chapter in what has been a very controversial story, where some scientists have gone against the dogma which states that in mammals, such as mice and humans, all the progenitor germ cells that could give rise to eggs have already done so by birth,” said Professor Robin Lovell-Badge, a researcher into stem cells at the MRC National Institute for Medical Research in London. “This paper will stimulate lots of activity in the scientific community, as happens when any dogma is challenged. This is a good thing. But what would be unfortunate is if this paper is hyped as a cure for female infertility. A lot more work is needed to understand what these new cells really are, and to verify the findings and the claims.”

The study was published online by the journal Nature Cell Biology

Chickweed Ointment - This is an all natural ointment that is well known to be incredibly effective in alleviating itchy yeast infections. Although perhaps not as common as aloe vera or slippery elm, both of which are also excellent for yeast infections.

Frozen Unsweetened Yogurt - Beneficial bacteria present in yogurt is one of the easiest ways to cure your yeast infection the natural way. Freeze unsweetened yogurt into either ice cubes or popsicles. Once frozen apply frequently. Keep as cool and dry as possible - This one goes without saying, a hot and moist environment sets the stage up for disaster regarding yeast infections.
